Gang:
Sorry I missed the net tonight. I have been going to the wrong freq the
last couple of
Sunday nights. I was still listening on 3686.4. I missed that one when you
guys changed.
Been quite a while since I checked in on the net.
Glad to hear Sir Gas Man took my idea and improved on it. Sounds like he
got the bugs out
and got it to work. Of course, we did get the homebrew one I made to work
also. But I am
sure with some improvement it will work a lot better on 80 and 40.
I will find the specs and send it to everyone. We plan to use one of these
antennas at each
site next year for FD and probably make some up for our events with ARCI in
the spring and fall.
It is such a great antenna and so easy to make and carry. Bob even came up
with a better idea than
mine for the mast support. It fits right in the trunk of the car and is
very easy to set up after you get
an open spot. I plan to make a better one here in the next coming weeks and
have one for 80 and 40.
This will give you a history of the antenna. I found this in an old army
manual and tried to get more info
on it and low and behold several people have improvised ideas for it's use.

This second site will give you some specifics and there is another one I
can't find right now
tat will give you dimensions for the wire and the length of the mast etc.
It is all simple enough
but hard to configure for CW. We had one made for FD and it was resonant on
the SSB part of
the band and we had to work on it to get it resonant on CW. After we did,
it made some big difference.

Have fun and if you have any questions I will be glad to help. Sir Gas Man
(Bob/AE4IC) has done more
experimentation and evidently rounded off the corners I did not have time to
fix. So we will all benefit from
his knowledge. I emailed him; but, his mailbox is full so there must be a
lot of you asking him questions
already.
