Guys,

Prototype parts are arriving! I'm guessing from the emails that you
don't need them in a rush. But, if you do, let me know and we'll work
out a way to get them to you. I was going to mail them, but if we can
hand deliver that would be easier.

Just so all are aware, I bought a replacement part for the obsolete
2sc1969. It was advertised as a near drop in replacement. So, I bought
a dozen of them, then started looking for specs, etc. To my surprise,
it is a MOSFET, not NPN, and it **is** a drop in mechanically for some
existing Galaxy transceivers. Adding another part and removing a
capacitor actually improves the Galaxy. OK, I sez to myself, I'll get
the specs and just change our circuit to MOSFET. No problem, except
I've searched every nook and cranny of the web that I can find and have
been unable to find specs. Derek is a whiz at finding stuff on the web,
so I've enlisted his help.

Right now, all I know is that the ERF-2030 I ordered is somewhere
between an IRF510 and an IRF611.

------And, we hadn't actually assigned that part of the project to
anyone. I guess I get it by default.

I've received the Boomers for trial, but the only package I could find
was SOIC. So, I have a plan for mounting them that may work, but in the
meantime, has anyone seen an inexpensive Kluge board for SM? If not,
should the Knightlites design one and get FAR circuits to make it for us?

Remember, FAR made the KnightSMiTe board for .75 each, and that board
would be big enough to mount several SOIC chips and associated parts.
Properly designed, it could probably be cut into four smaller boards.
(I'm working on a design that could bridge the gap between SM chips and
leaded parts, but that's another project)

In spite of a few hitches, it looks like we'll have something for show
and tell at the Nov. PigOut!
